Colombian History and Politics

Thousands of years ago, the transcontinental country Colombia was just a random small part of the world. Small societies lived together, hunted together and maintained peace. They were not only hunters, but pot makers and had a great taste in art. After several years, more of the societies came together as a larger group. They were into pottery, poetry, literature, art and hunting. All along the rivers and near the coastal and forest areas, people adjusted in tribes. In about 14th to 15th century, the Spanish invaded the country and started colonizing. The Spanish made Bogotá the capital in their era, and also created the Spanish Empire named New Granada. It had countries like Venezuela, Panama, Ecuador and the modern Colombia under its areas. Colombia gained independence from the Spanish Empire in about nineteenth century, in 1819. However, after eleven years, the viceroyalty of New Granada was disbanded and broken up and evolved into a Republic of New Granada with only Colombia and Panama under it. However, this did not last for a very long time and Republic of Colombia was an independent state by 1886.

Modern Colombia also includes several school and universities. They have a well educated population, especially in the medical sector. Each of their doctors and nurses are required to take ACLS and PALS certification online prior to licensing and practicing.

Although what is written looks like just another story of another country, but, what emerged out with continuous struggle for independence was a country with rich culture and people from a diverse number of ethnicities and languages, living together. But the struggle of the Colombian people did not just end there after they gained independence. Like every other great nation, they still are struggling to be one of the greatest too. After going through a renaissance, Medellin, which had seventeen murders every day, is now one the world’s cultural heritage. The words are too empty to describe the significance of this success. Where people once lived with terror and blood, they come together from all parts of the world to celebrate culture. Furthermore, Colombia is one of the seventeen mega diverse countries in the world. It is second on the list. From the point of view of life and existence, this is one of the most desirable facts for a country to have. Moreover, according to the statistics of 2013 and 2014 by the Barometer of Hope and Happiness, Colombia was the happiest country in the world. In the era of terrorism and wars on terror, being the happiest country seems really unachievable.

Although, the country has reputation of being a drug hub but nothing is like that at all. It is beautiful and people from all over the world, who love sun, visit Colombia frequently. The sun is there because, it is on the equator. The Colombian women are known to stay happy. If they are dissatisfied with their bodies, they do not hesitate to change it, which is why it is the 5th largest center for cosmetic surgery.
