Colombian History and Politics

Thousands of years ago, the transcontinental country Colombia was just a random small part of the world. Small societies lived together, hunted together and maintained peace. They were not only hunters, but pot makers and had a great taste in art. After several years, more of the societies came together as a larger group. They were into pottery, poetry, literature, art and hunting. All along the rivers and near the coastal and forest areas, people adjusted in tribes. In about 14th to 15th century, the Spanish invaded the country and started colonizing. The Spanish made Bogotá the capital in their era, and also created the Spanish Empire named New Granada. It had countries like Venezuela, Panama, Ecuador and the modern Colombia under its areas. Colombia gained independence from the Spanish Empire in about nineteenth century, in 1819. However, after eleven years, the viceroyalty of New Granada was disbanded and broken up and evolved into a Republic of New Granada with only Colombia and Panama under it. However, this did not last for a very long time and Republic of Colombia was an independent state by 1886.

Although what is written looks like just another story of another country, but, what emerged out with continuous struggle for independence was a country with rich culture and people from a diverse number of ethnicities and languages, living together. But the struggle of the Colombian people did not just end there after they gained independence. Like every other great nation, they still are struggling to be one of the greatest too.
